About Me

Hello! I’ve been working with words for my entire career, first as a journalist, then as a marketing copywriter, and most recently as a content design director.

At PayPal, I used my content strategy skills and customer-first approach to contribute to a number of business-critical initiatives, including Fastlane by PayPal and no-code payment solutions.

I'm an adept problem-solver who can balance doing what's right for the customer with the needs of the business. I love combining data-driven insights with my own influence to persuade key stakeholders and influence outcomes.

My experience has taught me to ask smart questions, dig into research, and write clearly and effectively.

Let’s create something amazing together!

Leadership Philosophy

To create a high-performing team, lead with empathy and transparency

I'm an empathetic and inclusive leader who is highly effective in people management and talent development. I believe that teams are motivated and successful when they understand how their work contributes to the overall success of the company.  By being transparent with my team, modeling a positive outlook, and setting clear standards, I create a culture of high performance.

Push for excellence

As a leader, it’s my responsibility to show my team what success should look like. I set the expectation that all work will be subject to editorial review. I give straightforward feedback in a kind and direct manner.

Be human

Work and life don’t necessarily exist in a perfect balance. Instead, they should harmonize. First and foremost, we’re all humans. I encourage my team to bring their whole selves to work.

Empower people

Rather than micromanage or take over people’s projects, I coach and train them. I make sure they have the tools they need to create excellent content. And if they’re going astray, I quickly and kindly get them back on the path to success.

Alexa was an exceptional manager who always raised the bar of our team’s work. Under her mentorship, my content greatly improved, as did the work of everyone she managed. Her dedication to our success, along with her precise and intelligent feedback, helped us put out our best work.

Direct from my directs

I was lucky to start my content design career on Alexa’s team and I cannot overstate the impact she had on my professional growth. As I was a newcomer to the field, Alexa served as an exceptional mentor, guiding me through the intricacies of content design with patience, kindness, and transparent critique. Her empathetic style created a nurturing environment where I felt supported and encouraged to explore new ideas and take risks without overly fearing failure.
Alexa is an amazing manager! I worked for her on PayPal’s merchant-facing content team. I think what really stands out to me is how encouraging and dedicated she is to her team. She helped me grow as a content designer by providing valuable feedback and opportunities to take on new challenges.

Alexa also created a positive and collaborative work environment, where everyone felt comfortable sharing ideas and working together to achieve our goals. Alexa’s leadership style is one of inclusivity and empowerment, and it’s clear that she genuinely cares about the well-being and career growth of her team.

What colleagues have said

I can confidently say that Alexa is an exceptional leader and collaborator. Alexa not only provided strategic support and editorial guidance for complex merchant experiences but also managed a global team of content designers across various time zones with grace and efficiency. She has a remarkable ability to champion her team, advocating for their role to be more integral in both the product and design process.

Under your leadership, we shifted from a one-size-fits-all approach to a more personalized and empathetic strategy that truly challenges the status quo.

I’m so grateful you were my very first manager ever. You set the bar so high! You’re talented, kind, and exactly the type of mentor anyone would be lucky to have. You taught me so much.
